The NSS's motto is "Not Me, But You". 

The National Service Scheme (NSS) objectives include:

  • Developing personality and character,

    The NSS aims to develop student's character and personality through voluntary community service,

  • Understanding the community,

    NSS volunteers are expected to understand the community they work in and themselves about it. 

  • Identifying community needs

    NSS volunteers are expected to identify the needs and problems of the community and help solve them. 

  • Developing social and civic responsibility

    NSS volunteers are expected to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility. 

  • Using knowledge to find solutions

    NSS volunteers are expected to use their knowledge to find practical solutions to problems. 

  • Gaining leadership qualities

    NSS volunteers are expected to acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes. 

  • Meeting emergencies and natural disasters

    NSS volunteers are expected to develop the capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters. 

  • Practicing national integration

    NSS volunteers are expected to practice national integration and social harmony. 

  • Establishing linkages

    NSS aims to establish linkages between the campus and community, college and village, and knowledge and action. 

The NSS was introduced in 1969 and is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
